Brian Corcoran has been a practicing lawyer since 2004. His practice focuses on Corporate and Commercial, Finance, and Real Estate Law. He assists private and institutional clients with regard to a wide variety of matters including corporate structures and reorganizations, buying and selling businesses, lending and borrowing, purchase and sale of real estate, and more.
Brian’s practice focuses on Corporate and Commercial, Finance and Real Estate, dealing with such things as buying and selling businesses (share purchase or asset purchase); corporate reorganizations; shareholders’ agreements and partnership agreements; acting for private and institutional lenders and borrowers; acting for buyers and sellers of office, retail, apartment and industrial real estate.
Prior to attending law school at Osgoode Hall in Toronto, Brian lived in 6 of the 10 Canadian Provinces. During those travels he was lucky enough to have unique work experiences including working for a helicopter company, working at a chicken processing plant, working on the railroad on the Prairies, living and working at sea on an oil rig, and working in a steel factory.
Law was not Brian’s first choice. With an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience, he had his sights set on a career as a Neurologist. However, life takes sometimes takes you in unexpected directions. At the suggestion of a friend who was in law school Brian wrote the LSAT, discovered how interesting a career in law might be and the rest, as they say, is history.
Brian is very fortunate to have lived in so many parts of Canada and to have met so many interesting people prior to attending law school, and this has shaped his point of view as a lawyer. Understanding a client’s perspective is fundamental to achieving their goals and Brian’s “life before law” has given him the skills to do just that.
