Karen Dylla has practiced as a lawyer in Richmond since 1988.  Originally a general solicitor, for many years now she has focused on Wills and Estate and Incapacity planning, Probate practice, and Estate Administration.

Karen articled with PLLR in 1987-1988 and started her law career working in all areas of solicitor’s practice – real estate, leasing, banking, corporate law, and wills and estates – before realizing that her real interest lay in the Wills and Estates practice.  Over time, these became her main areas of focus.

Karen was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and lived with her family in Ulster until the age of nine.  A “preacher’s kid”, her family was called to Calgary in the early 1970s, before eventually moving again to the west coast in 1978.  She graduated from Steveston Senior Secondary School before attending the University of British Columbia where she obtained her BA and LLB degrees.

Throughout her career, Karen has volunteered on various boards and committees at Regent College, St. Andrew’s Hall, and the Presbyterian Church in Canada. She has a wide circle of friends and contacts as a result of her long residency in this area and her diverse community involvement. In her spare time, Karen enjoys reading and sewing. She is also passionate about live theatre, choral music, and European travel. Karen and her husband have two adult children and they all live, work, and play in the Greater Vancouver Area.

Karen’s interest has always been in people and their stories. She believes in dealing compassionately, efficiently, and straightforwardly with her clients and their families, many of whom see her during times of stress and bereavement.  Karen is mindful that for many clients, she is their only point of contact with the legal system and she does her best to make the encounter a positive experience.
