Richard Dempsey is a litigator focusing mainly on personal injury and insurance, and he has handled numerous complex cases involving traumatic brain injury and other serious injuries. Although most of his practice has been in the Lower Mainland, he has also worked in the Okanagan, Vancouver Island, Cariboo-Chilcotin, Columbia, and Kootenay regions of British Columbia.

Richard was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1989. Since then, he acted as counsel in several different areas of law including personal injury, employment law, criminal law, and family law. During his career, he has conducted hundreds of trials and has had the opportunity to assist thousands of clients. Currently, most of his legal work is in personal injury and insurance litigation including mediation, alternate dispute resolution, and trial.

Before joining the legal profession, Richard worked in several different fields, including banking, manufacturing, retailing, and building roads. During his career, he has acquired a great deal of experience working with people from a broad cross-section of society and from varying and diversified backgrounds.

Since 1988, Richard has lived and worked in Vancouver. He has traveled throughout British Columbia, every region of Canada, much of North America, and many other parts of the world. 

Travel has helped Richard appreciate the similarities and differences among people, which has been important in helping him visualize every facet of a legal issue. His experiences also help him anticipate risks and better advise clients.

To serve clients effectively and efficiently he listens first, then recommends options, and then assists them as best he can.
